LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team won its third straight match to begin the year in a 6-0, weather-shortened win over Mississippi University for Women on Friday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
Covenant is 3-0 for the first time in program history.
Despite cold and wet conditions, the Scots persevered to pick up the win. In doubles, it was a clean sweep as Madelyn Savage and Gillian Bosko took a win at the No. 1 spot, while Mariah Westra and Dani Rappuhn were winners at No. 2 with Alexis Baker and Nicole Restrepo notching a win at the third position.
Laney Beckwith collected her first win of the year at No. 6 singles with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Terraline Green to make it a 4-0 lead for Covenant. Anna Logan sealed the victory with her 6-0, 6-1 victory over Karina Garcia at the No. 5 spot.
At the top singles spot, Savage cruised past Nicole Rensink, 6-0, 6-0 for the final tally. Bosko, Restrepo, and Kacey Melton were all leading their matches when the contest was called.
It was the season opener for MUW (0-1).
