LAGRANGE, Ga. -- The Covenant men's tennis team concluded their season as they fell 5-0 to Methodist in the first round of the USA South conference tournament at the LaGrange College Tennis Courts.
Methodist (13-11) got a doubles sweep to start the contest.
Trey Wood and Paxton Haggerty fell to Trent Harner and Coleman Baker 8-2 at one doubles to get the match started. Tyler Kelly and Ben Luke dropped a close 8-5 match to Hayden Wilfong and Kayhahn Alikhani at the three. Wynn Johnson and Jacob Oehser completed the doubles sweep for the Monarchs over Chris Morton and Logan Hull with an 8-5 victory at the two slot.
The Monarchs clinched and wrapped up the match just two matches into singles play.
Haggerty dropped the two singles match to Harner 6-0, 6-0 to give Methodist the 4-0 match lead. The Scots season came to a close as Luke fell to Baker 6-0, 6-3 to complete the match.
The match was not played to finish because of the tournament play.
Covenant ends its season at 9-9.
