OLD HICKORY, Tenn. -- All five Covenant golfers posted a score of 76 or better as the Scots carded a 298 in the final round of the Phoenix Invitational, hosted at the Old Hickory Country Club, on Tuesday.
The 298 (+14) is the best score, relative to par, of the season for the Scots. Covenant finished ninth in the field overall after a 36-hole score of 612 (314-298) on the par-71 course.
Martin Methodist came away with the team title at 584 (291-293), while Campbellsville (591) and William Carey (591) tied for second.
Will DeMersseman carded a 75 in the final round to record the highest individual finish for the Scots. DeMersseman finished with a 152 (77-75) and was 31st in the field. Nathan Hawkins and Marshall Kent tied for the low round of the day for Covenant as both shot a 74. Hawkins concluded the 36-hole tournament with a score of 153 (79-74), while Kent came in at 157 (83-74).
Josh Wall followed up his 77 in Monday's opening round with a 76 in Tuesday's final round to place in a tie for 32nd, along with Hawkins, at 153 (77-76). James Mitchell also saw an improvement from round one as he shot a 75 to finish with a 156 (81-75).
Lindsey Wilson's Callum Blinkhorn was the tournament medalist as he posted a 70 in the final round and a 139 (69-70) for the tournament.
UP NEXT
Covenant will be back in action on April 15-16 at the Rhodes Spring Classic at the Windyke Country Club. The tournament is set for 54 holes, with the first 36 holes slated for Monday.
