MEMPHIS, Tenn. -- The Covenant men's golf team finished off a record-breaking performance at the Rhodes Spring Classic with a 293 in Tuesday's final round.
Covenant placed ninth in the field that featured five top-50 ranked Division III teams, according to GolfStat rankings. The Scots posted a program-record tying 293, the second time Covenant posted that score in the tournament, and finished with a program record 880 (293-294-293) for the 54-hole tournament.
No. 22 Berry took the team title with a 12-under, 845 (286-283-276), while Dallas (858) and Sewanee (861) rounded out the top three spots. Berry's Wesley Heston was the medalist with a 10-under, 206 (72-68-66) for the tournament.
Josh Wall paced the Scots in Tuesday's final round with a 1-under, 71, to set a career-best round. The senior was consistent throughout his round as he carded three birdies. Wall finished in a tie for 15th overall with a 216 (72-73-71). Nathan Hawkins also finished in a tie for 15th in the event after posting a 74 on Tuesday to go along with his 70 and 72 in Monday's first two rounds. Hawkins had four birdies in his round.
Wall's and Hawkins' 54-hole totals are the second-best individual marks in program history.
Marshall Kent posted an even-par, 72 on Tuesday, while collecting three birdies. Kent ended the tournament with a 225 (80-73-72) and was 47th. James Mitchell shot a 76 on Tuesday and finished with a 230 (73-81-76), while Will DeMersseman had a 78 in the final round and finished the tournament with a 232 (78-76-78).
UP NEXT
Covenant will await to see if it qualifies for the USA South Tournament. The tournament is set for April 25-27 at the Highland Country Club in LaGrange, Ga.
