LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant men's tennis team did not drop a set en route to a 9-0 sweep over Huntingdon on Saturday at the tennis complex to extend their winning streak to four matches.
Covenant (4-4, 4-1 USA South) swept doubles competition to take a 3-0 match lead.
Ben Luke and Tyler Kelly took three doubles 8-1 to get the scoring started. Trey Wood and Paxton Haggerty took an 8-3 decision at the one spot just moments before Logan Hull and Chris Morton completed the sweep 8-2 at the two flight to wrap up doubles play.
Singles was no different as the Scots continued to dominate the match.
Cameron Cortman was the first to finish without dropping a game, winning 6-0, 6-0 over Kevaughnte Merrion at five singles. The Scots clinched the win with a Haggerty victory over Carson Sands 6-0, 6-2 at the two flight.
Hull picked up his sixth win of the year defeating Mark Melchor 6-1, 6-2 at the one spot. Luke took the match score to 7-0 beating Anjala Chandrasoma 6-1, 6-0 at three singles. Morton wrapped up the four with a 6-1, 6-1 victory over Clint Robinson just moments before Kelly picked up his ninth win of the season to complete the sweep. Kelly bested Charlie Jones 6-3, 6-0 at the six singles position.
Huntingdon falls to 4-2 overall and 2-2 in USA South play.
UP NEXT
Covenant will take a step out of conference play and take on Berry on Wednesday, March 20th on top of Lookout Mountain. The match is scheduled to begin at 4:30 p.m.
