LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team battled to a 3-1 lead, but the Lady Scots could not hold on as visiting Huntingdon took each of the five remaining singles matches to take a 6-3 victory at the Covenant Tennis Complex on Friday afternoon.
The loss drops Covenant (7-7, 2-2 USA South) back to .500 overall and in USA South play. Huntingdon (14-1, 6-0 USA South) remains perfect in league play with the win.
Covenant looked strong early on in the match. After dropping the first completed doubles match, Covenant took the final two matches to grab a 2-1 lead. Annie DeLuca and Esther Eddy held off Huntingdon's Zoya Robinson and Josie Waddell 9-7 at the top spot. At the No. 2 flight, Aly Hall and Jennie Spielman went into a tiebreak with Huntingdon's Heather Tabor and Caroline McBroom before prevailing 9-8 (4).
The Lady Scots then grabbed a 3-1 lead in the match following Hall's straight set win over Kacy Howard 6-0, 6-0 at No. 1 singles.
However, Huntingdon took the final five singles matches to regain the lead and clinch the win. The match was sealed for the visiting Hawks with Tabor's 6-2, 6-4 win over Spielman at the No. 4 spot. There was one three-set match in the contest as Huntingdon's Robinson rallied past Eddy 4-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-6) at No. 3 to conclude the match.

Covenant will look to get back on track on Saturday against LaGrange. First serve at the Covenant Tennis Complex is set for 11 a.m.
