DECATUR, Ga. -- Aly Hall, Esther Eddy, and Annie DeLuca each took wins in both singles and doubles play to lead the Covenant women's tennis team to a 6-3 USA South victory at Agnes Scott on Thursday afternoon at Byers Tennis Courts.

Covenant (6-5, 2-0 USA South) moves over the .500 mark with the victory and remains unbeaten in USA South play. Agnes Scott drops to 2-9 on the year and 0-2 in league play.

Covenant took a 2-1 match lead after doubles play as DeLuca and Eddy fought off Agnes Scott's Lizzy Engsberg and Taylor Lee 9-7 at the top doubles position to break a 1-1 match tie. Hall and Spielman gave Covenant a 1-0 lead after their 8-2 triumph over the host Scotties' Anastasia Bennett and Camille Wilson at the second spot.

In singles play, Covenant grabbed a 4-1 lead after the first two completed matches. DeLuca was ahead 2-1 over Lee at the No. 2 spot before Lee suffered an injury and was forced to retire, giving Covenant the point. At No. 1, Hall bested Engsberg 6-0, 6-4 giving Covenant a 4-1 match advantage. The wins for DeLuca and Hall were their ninth singles victories of the season, tying for the team-lead.

Mackenzie Jones clinched the match for Covenant with her 6-0, 6-2 victory at No. 6 over Jacy Pippin. Eddy completed the sweep at the top half of the lineup for the Lady Scots as she outlasted Bennett 6-3, 7-6 (6) at the third flight.

Covenant will play its second match in as many days on Friday when Piedmont comes to Lookout Mountain. The USA South tilt is set to start at 3:30 p.m. at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
