PINE MOUNTAIN, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team slipped a spot in Tuesday's final round of the Callaway Gardens Intercollegiate to place 17th in the event. Covenant entered the day in 16th, but the Scots posted a team score of 339 in the final round to finish 17th.
Emory, ranked 13th, won the tournament with a two-day score of 596. The tournament field featured 14 teams ranked in the top 50 in the current GolfStat rankings, including No. 1 Huntingdon. USA South member, and No. 11-ranked, LaGrange was second at 597. Covenant's 17th place finish was a spot better than USA South member Averett.
Christopher Newport's David Rabil and Washington & Lee's Brian Peccie tied for medalist honors at 145 as both carded 70s on Tuesday.
Josh Wall had the low round for the Scots with his 81 and he finished in a tie for 85th in the tournament with a score of 165 (84-81). Alan Craig was the top overall finisher for Covenant with a 162 (77-85) that was good for a 73rd place finish. Nathan Hawkins shot an 84 to finish at 163 (79-84) for the event, while Marshall Kent had a 168 (79-89).

Covenant will compete in the Wynlakes Intercollegiate, hosted by Huntingdon, on March 27-28 at the Wynlakes Golf & Country Club in Montgomery, Ala.
