ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team opened the spring portion of its schedule on Monday and Tuesday at the seventh annual Coastal Georgia Winter Invitational at the Sea Island Retreat Golf Course. 

The Scots placed 17th in the event with a two-day score of 675 (338-337). Host Coastal Georgia took a one stroke victory over North Georgia, while Coastal Georgia's Taylor Guilbeau was the individual winner with a 1-over par, 145 for the tournament.

Alan Craig led the Scots with a 61st place finish after carding a 165 (81-84) in the two rounds. Marshall Kent was right behind Craig with a 166 (81-85), while Nathan Hawkins finished with a 167 (85-82). Ian Johnson (177; 91-86) and Will Mayfield (182; 96-86) rounded out the five Covenant golfers in the event.

Covenant will host the Reeder Cup at the Lookout Mountain Golf Club on Feb. 24-25.
