ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. -- Covenant men's tennis sophomore Matthew Harvie upset All-American and nationally-ranked Sebastian Sikh in singles play, but the Scots fell 8-1 at North Carolina Wesleyan on Friday afternoon at the Slick Family Foundation Tennis Center.

The loss drops the Scots to 0-4 overall and 0-1 in USA South play. N.C. Wesleyan moves to 1-1 and 1-0 in league play.

Harvie outlasted Sikh, an NCAA Division III runner-up in doubles last year and ITA All-American, at the No. 1 spot. Harvie took a 7-6 (3) win in set one before shutting out the N.C. Wesleyan sophomore, who is ranked No. 28 nationally in singles, 6-0 in the second set to take the win. Harvie is 3-1 in singles play this season.

Harvie and Chris Cox nearly pulled out a victory at the No. 1 doubles spot against Sikh and Eduardo Ugalde, but the duo from N.C. Wesleyan managed to pull out a 9-8 (3) win.

Covenant travels to Fayetteville, N.C., on Saturday to face Methodist. Matches start at 12 p.m.
