BRANDON, Miss. -- Freshman Nathan Hawkins carded a first round 78 to lead the Covenant men's golf team at the Pinnacle Trust Invitational, hosted by Belhaven University at the Castlewoods Country Club.

As a team, Covenant shot a 329 at the par-72, 6786 yard course and sits in fourth after the first day. The Scots are just one shot back of third-place Belhaven.

Millsaps leads the field with a 312 and also boasts the individual clubhouse leader in Ryan Martin after his even-par 72.

Hawkins is in a tie for fourth overall in the event after his 78. Alan Craig was the second Covenant finisher with his round of 83, while Will Reid and Marshall Kent each posted 84s in the round. Ian Johnson rounded out the Covenant golfers with an 85 on Monday.
