CLARKESVILLE, Ga. -- Freshman Marshall Kent posted a final round 73 to finish sixth and the Covenant men's golf team placed fifth at the Piedmont Fall Invitational at The Orchard Golf & Country Club in Clarkesville.
Covenant shot 14 strokes better on Tuesday than in the first round to post a team score of 310. The Scots finished at 634 for the tournament. Host Piedmont came out on top with a two-day score of 603 to claim the tournament title. Piedmont's Sam Hill carded a 73 on Tuesday for a tournament score of 142 and the top individual honors.
Kent's 73 gave him a two-day score of 152 which was good for a tie for sixth place and a spot on the all-tournament team. The freshman registered four birdies during his round on Tuesday. He becomes the first Covenant player to earn all-tournament honors at the Piedmont Fall Invitational since 2013.
Junior Alan Craig shot a 77 in the final round, while freshman Josh Wall and junior Ian Johnson carded a 79 and an 81, respectively. Johnson's 158 for the tournament placed him 15th overall and Craig's 160 was 20th.
Truett-McConnell's B team finished second with a score of 619, while the TMC A team was third at 623. Bob Jones placed fourth with a 628.
On the women's side, Maggie Mauze shot an 89 in the final round for a two-day 182.

The men's team will compete in the Coastal Georgia Fall Invitational on Sept. 14-15 in St. Simons Island, Ga.
