CLARKESVILLE, Ga. -- Junior Ian Johnson posted a career-best 77 to lead the Covenant men's golf team in the first round of the Piedmont Fall Invitational on Monday at the Orchard Golf & Country Club in Clarkesville.
As a team, Covenant shot a 324 which places the Scots in fourth place. Host Piedmont carded a 299 to lead the five-team field and the Lions have the individual clubhouse leader with Sam Hill's 69.
Johnson's 77 has him in a tie for ninth individually. His round included three birdies. Freshman Marshall Kent is in a tie for 13th after he posted a 79 in his collegiate debut, while junior Alan Craig is 21st after shooting an 83.
Freshman Josh Wall rounded out the top four scorers for the Scots on Monday with an 85 in his first collegiate event.

The second and final round of the tournament will begin at 9 a.m. on Tuesday
