FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Both Covenant tennis teams suffered defeats on the road at USA South power Methodist on Friday afternoon. The women fell 8-1, while the men were defeated 9-0 by the host Monarchs.

The loss for the ladies is their first in USA South action this season. The Lady Scots go to 8-5 overall and 4-1 in league play. The men drop to 1-11 overall and 0-4 in USA South.

The lone on the women's side came at No. 6 singles as Molly Peele klnocked off Methodist's Hillary Petruska 4-6, 7-5, 10-7. Covenant was playing without the services of its normal No. 1 player Madeline Hyatt. 

On the men's side, Michael O'Brien fell at No. 1 singles 6-0, 6-4 to the Monarchs' Duncan Miller. At the No. 2 spot, Frank Portlock was defeated 6-2, 6-0 Taylor Buchholz.

Both teams will be back in action on Saturday. The men and women will face North Carolina Wesleyan at 1 p.m. The women will also play at Meredith in Raleigh, N.C., at 5:30 p.m. in a rescheduled match from March 7.
