ST. SIMONS ISLAND, Ga. -- Trey Patterson's final round 74 propelled the Covenant men's golf team to a seventh place finish, out of 15, at the Coastal Georgia Invitational held at Sea Island's Retreat Course in St. Simons Island.
Patterson's 74, coupled with his first round score of 75, gave him a 149 for the tournament which was good enough for 14th individually. Daniel Jansen of Faulkner used a final round 71 to claim the overall individual title at 140 overall.
Covenant moved up one spot from a tie for eighth in day one to a seventh place finish. The Scots shot a 310 in today's round, six strokes better than in round one. Levi Nix shot a 75 on the day followed by a 77 from Cameron Lewis. Both Nix's and Lewis' scores were three strokes lower in the final round than in the first. Nix finished the tournament with a 153, while Lewis was at 157.
Scott McKnight and Nick Blauw rounded out the Covenant golfers with an 84 and an 86, respectively.
Faulkner cruised to the overall team title, finishing 10 strokes ahead of Coastal Georgia.
The men's golf team will play again next month at the Wittenburg Members Invitational in Hilton Head, S.C. on March 6.
