WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. -- Despite not having its regular roster on hand, the Covenant women's tennis team defeated GSAC foe Salem College 7-2 on Wednesday afternoon in North Carolina.
The Lady Scots improve to 4-6 overall and 4-3 in conference matches, while Salem goes to 2-7 on the season and 1-4 in GSAC play.
Covenant swept all three doubles matches. The Rowe sisters, Anne Marie and Gretchen, knocked off Salem's Angela Reavis and Kerri Morgan 8-3. Stephanie Sizemore teamed with Aften Whitmore to win their doubles match 8-5, while Tatum Daniel and Lulu Johnson took their match 8-2.
In singles competition, Covenant won four of the six matches. Gretchen Rowe defeated Morgan in three sets 6-1, 3-6, 11-9, while Anne Marie Rowe took out Amy Allison 6-1, 6-0. Sizemore won 6-3, 6-2 over Reavis, and Daniel cruised to a 6-1, 6-2 win over Carly Neisler.
The Lady Scots will be back in action on Saturday for their final regular season match against GSAC opponent Wesleyan College. The matches will take place at Chattanooga Christian School starting at 2 p.m.
