ROME, Ga. -- The Covenant men's golf team began the spring semester of competition on Monday in the Rome News-Tribune Invitational hosted by Berry College. Trey Patterson shot a 77 for round one, which places him in a tie for 38th individually, but as a team Covenant sits in 17th place.
Patterson produced a 39 on the front nine before doing one shot better on the final nine holes of the par-72 course. Scott McKnight shot an 81 while Cameron Lewis and Alex Mosteller had an 83 and 84, respectively. Nick Blauw rounded out the Covenant golfers with an 87. As a team, Covenant had a total score of 325.
Central Alabama Community College leads the Invitational after the first round with a team total of 289 followed closely by the University of the Cumberlands at 292. LaGrange College's Hudson Keener is the individual leader after a round of 66.
The second and final round of the Invitational will take place on Tuesday.
