ROME, Ga. -- Led by Levi Nix's first round 75, the Covenant men's golf team sits in 12th place after the day one of the Chick-fil-A Invitational hosted by Berry College. As a team, Covenant posted a round on score of 307.
University of Cumberlands leads the 27-team field with a score of 291 after the first day. Spring Hill is second at 295 and Reinhardt is third with 297. Play was split between two courses, Stonebridge Golf Club and Coosa Country Club, to accomodate all the teams.
Nix's 75 was followed by James Van Nice and Cameron Lewis who each posted a 77 on the day. Trey Patterson finished day one with a 78, while Scott McKnight had a round of 83. Conditions were rough at the Stonebridge Golf Club with chilly temperatures throughout the day.
Covenant tees off at 9:10 a.m. on Tuesday at the Coosa Country Club.
