ORLANDO -- The Lady Scots, in their first of four matches this week, lost a heart-breaker to the Yellow Jackets of Cedarville University Tuesday afternoon. A lone doubles victory and only three singles wins were not enough as Covenant lost 5-4 and drops to 1-3 on the season. Cedarville improves to an even five hundred at 4-4.
At three doubles, sophomore Anne Marie Rowe and freshman Kelsey Whitted grabbed the only doubles point for the Lady Scots, taking the last two games on their match to win 9-7. Jane Shibley and Lauren Redberg, meanwhile, fell by a narrow margin at two, going down 8-6 in a tie-break.
In singles play, junior Stephanie Sizemore defeated Cedarville's Lyndsay Stine in the five spot for her third singles win of the season. Shibley won at three singles in straight sets (6-2, 6-2), and Redberg, in perhaps the most interesting scoreline possible, came away with a three set win (0-6, 6-0, 6-0).
The Lady Scots have Wednesday off to prepare for a pair of matches on Thursday: Olivet Nazarene at 8:00am and St. Cloud State at 6:30pm.
