ORLANDO -- The location is Orlando and it is spring break, but the Scots are indeed hard at work this week, with 3 matches scheduled over the 4 day trip.  The first of these came Monday afternoon when Covenant took to the court against the Wheaton College Thunder in a men's only contest that featured 3 tie-breaks and 3 super tie-breaks over the course of nearly 4 hours.  Senior captain Josh Jeremiah went 2-0 on the day and improved his singles record to 4-0, but it was not enough as the Scots fell for the third time this season.

Despite losing the first match of the day at two doubles, the Scots rebounded at one to bring things even and looked poised for a second point with Sean Guerry and Johnny Herberich leading late at three doubles.  But that lead slipped; Stephan Rauh and Sam Cannon forced a tie-break and edged out the remaining doubles point with a 7-5 victory to give the Thunder a 2-1 lead heading into singles play.

In singles, straight sets losses at five and six put Covenant at a crippling disadvantage of 4-1.  Jeremiah came from behind in his first set, won it in a tie-break, then finished off Taylor Johnson with a 6-3 second set win.  Junior John Hirte came from behind and completed his victory with a two hour and five minute marathon, but by then it was too late.  Joe Parrish's three set win (3-6, 6-1, 10-5) over Andy Jones over thirty minutes prior gave the Thunder (now 1-4) a fifth point and the win.

The Scots (1-3) will remain in Orlando all this week.  Their next match will be against Olivet Nazarene University on Thursday at 8:00am.  At 6:30pm on the same day, they will go up against St. Cloud State University.
