Athens, TN- Tuesday evening, Covenant's tennis teams faced off against Tennessee Wesleyan College, and although the ladies began slow, wins at #4, #5, and #6 singles helped propel Covenant to a 6-3 victory and a 4-4 record on the year. Covenant took two of the three doubles to start the day, but a commanding win at #1 singles and a three-set win at #3 gave the Lady Bulldogs (0-6, 0-1 AAC) the opportunity to come back.
Unfortunately, Jane Shibley, Stephanie Sizemore, and Annika Case stood in the way of Wesleyan's come-back. The trio surrendered a combined 10 games and was never in any real danger of letting their team's lead slip.
For the men, Josh Jeremiah pulled out the lone win after beating a familiar foe in Cody Gaby. The Tennessee Wesleyan men's team (5-0, 1-0 AAC) is currently ranked #19 in the nation in the NAIA and has been a consistent powerhouse in the Appalachian Athletic Conference in recent years.
Covenant will be at home this weekend to play Berry College. Matches will begin at 11:00am at the Champion's Club.
