Cleveland, TN- Covenant's tennis teams traveled the short distance to Cleveland, Tennessee on Friday to face a familiar foe in Lee University.  Despite a 9-0 loss for the women and an 8-1 loss for the men, the match was closer than the final score indicates.

Josh Jeremiah (men's #1 singles) and Jane Shibley (women's #4 singles) each missed on an opportunity to push their match to a third set after dropping the second in an 8-6 tie-break. Shibley's match went nearly 3 hours.  

Johnny Herberich managed to take his match to a super tie-break third set but was outplayed by Chattanooga native Zach Smith.  

The highlight for either team was at men's number 1 doubles: Covenant's Josh Jeremiah and Garrett Reid defeated Lee's Michael Yokosuk and Tyler Jeffers 8-4.  After the match, Jeremiah spoke about the keys to their success: "Garrett and I were consistent the whole match- making very few mistakes.  We both worked very well together and dominated at the net."

Covenant's next match will be at home in Chattanooga on Thursday against Piedmont College.  In last year's only match-up, the Scots and Lady Scots each swept Piedmont 9-0.
