ROME, Georgia – The Covenant men's golf program welcomed October with a good showing at the Chick-fil-A Collegiate Invitational, finishing 14th of out the 21 teams that participated early this week.
Freshman Alex Mosteller led the way with a combined score of 154, scoring two rounds of 77 to finish in 52nd place overall. Cameron Lewis shot the team low 74 on Monday and followed it up with a respectable 81 on Tuesday, giving him a 155 total. Anthony Sligh had consistent rounds of 77 and 78, matching Lewis' combined score of 155, good enough for 60th in the field of 116. Sligh also tied for second overall with 8 total birdies for the tournament. Senior David Spencer's rounds of 79 and 77 gave him a total of 156 and a spot at 67th. Dave Wilkinson scored a 78 and an 85, totaling 163 for the week and finishing in 96th. The Scots shot a total of 306 on Monday and followed that with 313 Tuesday.
Covenant will attend the NCCAA national tournament next week after being invited to compete as a team for the first time in its young history. The tournament will be held in Panama City, Florida October 11-12.
