RUTLEDGE, Ga.- The Scots find themselves 9 shots behind tournament host Piedmont College after the first round at the Hard Labor Creek State Park course in Rutledge, Georgia.

Covenant Scot Dave Wilkinson led all scorers with an even par 72, firing 3 birdies, 14 pars and one triple bogey over the north Georgia track.  "I let that 7th hole get away from me," said the sophomore from St. Louis.  "I caught a good break pulling my drive out of bounds only to have a road kick it back into play; but my heart must have still been beating fast or something because I couldn't hit a solid shot until my 3rd perfectly struck putt on that hole."

Piedmont leads all team scores with 303 with the Scots at 312.  "We will have to really have a great team effort tomorrow if we are going to catch these guys," said coach Schreiner.  "We have played in this event two other times and finished 2nd and 3rd; it's time for a victory."  The Scots are still playing with only 4 players in the 5 man format.
