The men's tennis team pulled out their first close match of the season 5-4 against University of the Cumberlands.
The Scots started out strong by winning #1 and #2 doubles handily and then lost at #3 doubles. Matches were put on in random order due to the weather and court space so #4 Ryan Bernardez lost to a good player first making the score 2-2.
Senior
Adam Herberich continued his great play by winning #6 to go ahead 3-2. Freshmen,
John Hirte was in a close match winning the first set 6-4 then losing the next two 6-4, 6-4 for the match to be tied at 3-3 with 3 matches to go. Jonny Herberich had to pull out of the #5 spot due to an injury, so
Brandon Snipes had to sub in and won easily at #5 to make the match 4-3 with #3
Garrett Reid and #2
Josh Jeremiah on the court. Garrett's opponent was just to consistent for him and he lost for the match to be tied 4-4.
Josh Jeremiah proved why he is the number one player on the team by beating a great player with the match on the line. After winning the first set 6-4, he dropped the second 6-4 and was down 3-4 in the 3rd before pulling out some unbelievable play to win his match 6-4 in the 3rd and give the team the 5-4 victory. The men improve to 7-5 overall and will have 2 conference matches this weekend with Milligan and King.
