Covenant Finishes Sixth at King College Invitational

Bristol, TN - The Scots finished their fall conference event in sixth place, but it was all eyes on the host team this afternoon. King, who sealed the win today, finished with a two-round total score of 579, setting a school record for a 36-hole tournament. In fact, the Tornado had never even shot below 600 before this week's event. Coming into today's action with the lead after shooting a 292 yesterday, King improved on their performance and shot a 287 today.

Union College took second in the tournament, with Milligan College finishing third. Tennessee Wesleyan College and Montreat College tied for fourth and Covenant, sixth after Monday's round, finished in that same spot.

Despite not moving up in the standings, it was an encouraging day as all of the Covenant golfers improved on or matched their scores from yesterday. David Spencer led the Scots with a score of 155 after his 77 in today's round. Dave Wilkinson shot a 78 today to finish with a 157. Michael Dinwiddie, improving on his first round score by four strokes, shot a 77 and finished at 158. Trevor Potts shot an 80 today to give himself a score of 162 and Michael Bowser matched his 85 yesterday with another today to finish with a 170.

Covenant will compete next in the Reeder Cup, their last tournament of the fall, on October 20-21 in Lookout Mountain.
