FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Following a personal-record performance at the Berry Invitational on Saturday, Covenant women's cross country freshman Maggie Henry has been named the USA South Rookie Runner of the Week, for the period ending on Oct. 14, announced the conference on Monday.
The honor is the first of Henry's career. It is the fourth time this season that a Covenant freshman has garnered the award, with the previous three honors going to S.K. Lipperd.
Henry, a freshman from Sewell, N.J., came in 48th overall, out of over 200 runners, at the Berry Invitational on Saturday with a personal-best 6k time of 25:07. The freshman's time and place helped Covenant to a sixth-place team finish, and third among Division III teams in the large field.
Henry has seen her 6k times improve in each of the three meets at that distance this season. For the season, the freshman also has four top 10 finishes.
Covenant will have a week off before competing in the USA South Championships on Friday, Oct. 26 at Maryville.
