FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- The Covenant cross country teams reeled in three more weekly honors from the USA South as senior Lilly Smith was named the conference's Runner of the Week on the women's side, while freshman S.K. Lipperd earned Rookie of the Week and freshman Nate Collins was the Rookie of the Week on the men's side.

The award period included all races from the weekends of Sept. 15 and Sept. 22.

It is the third weekly award for Smith and Lipperd this year, while it is the second for Collins. Smith and Lipperd have captured all USA South women's cross country weekly awards this season.

Smith, a senior from Weaverville, N.C., won her third consecutive meet as she paced the Scots to a team title at the Berea College Mike and Mary Kay Invitational on Sept. 15. The senior won the race with her personal record 5k time of 19:41.8 and captured her third individual title in a row. Smith has won races at the two-mile, 6k, and 5k distances during the year and is the first Covenant runner on record to win three meets to begin a season.

Lipperd, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., produced another top five finish as she placed third overall at the Mike and Mary Kay Invitational. Lipperd completed the course in a time of 20:07.4 and was the second Covenant runner to cross the finish line. Lipperd has finished inside the top five in all three meets this year.

Collins, a freshman from Birmingham, Ala., was the top Scots runner on the men's side at the Mike and Mary Kay Invitational as Covenant placed second in the event. The freshman came in eighth, out of 104 runners, with his personal best 8k time of 27:48.8. It was the third top 10 finish of the year for Collins.

After a week away from competition, Covenant will hit the trails this weekend at the Maryville Invitational on Saturday, Sept. 29. The women's meet is scheduled to start at 9 a.m., while the men go at 10 a.m.
