FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant cross country head coach Katie Stanford was named USA South Coach of the Year on the women's side and freshman runner Micah Sneller earned the conference's Rookie of the Year as the league announced its major awards for the sports on Wednesday.

Additionally, Ruthie Cargill and Zach Atchison were Covenant's representatives on their respective sports' All-Sportsmanship team.

Stanford, currently in her fifth year at the helm of the Covenant programs, picks up her first women's coach of the year honor after earning men's coach of the year accolades a year ago. Covenant was picked to finish second at the upcoming Conference meet by the USA South coaches in their preseason poll. Last season, the Lady Scots placed a close second at the championship.

A freshman from Lancaster, Pa., Sneller has been a key contributor for the Scots in his rookie season. His best performance of the fall came at the season-ending Berry College Invitational where he posted a time of 28:24.97 on the 8,000-meter course to finish 55th out of 154 runners. Sneller had an additional sub-29 minute 8,000-meter race when he finished the Furman Invitational in a time of 28:53. He was a two-time USA South Rookie of the Week honoree this fall.

Sneller is the second consecutive Covenant runner to be named the USA South's Rookie of the Year.
