11 Runners Compete at Emory Classic


ATLANTA, Ga. -- The Covenant cross country teams continued their spring season last Saturday (March 28) at the Emory Classic outdoor track event in Atlanta. 11 runners competed in events throughout the day.

On the women's side, Ruthie Cargill set a personal record in the track 5k with her time of 20:14. In the 1500, Spookie Eaves set a new personal best with a time of 5:20. Eaves also competed in the 800 meter event.

Eliot Kaufmann won his heat in the 1500 with a time of 4:16 and came in 15th overall. Kaufmann also ran in the 800 and finished in 2:05. Kaufmann was joined in the 800 by John Weaks (2:13) andJustin Jantomaso (2:17).

In the 5k, Weaks, Phil Moore and Zach Atchison both set new personal bests as Weaks finished in 17:21, Moore in 18:31 and Atchison in 18:51. It was Moore's first track 5k appearance.

Graham Massot appeared in the 3000 meter steeplechase and finished in 10:53.

Covenant will compete in one more spring event on April 17 at Sewanee.
