Becker takes over for Brittney Berube, who recently left the program to become the head coach at nearby Chattanooga Christian School.
A three-year player for the Scots, Becker spent last season in a volunteer assistant role for Ehman after helping as a student assistant during her senior year in 2018.
"I am immensely excited to stay at Covenant College and have the opportunity to coach volleyball here," Becker said. "I learned so much about the sport playing under Coach Ehman, and it's a dream come true to coach alongside her now. Being a part of the Covenant volleyball program really grew my passion for the sport and taught me that having the opportunity to play was a gift from the Lord."
"Olivia is the perfect person to bring onto our coaching staff at this point. It doesn't feel like we're making a new hire since she's really been a part of our leadership team for a few years," Ehman said. "Even before stepping off the court, the players in this program saw Liv as a leader with a high volleyball IQ and great insights for players in every position. Now that she gets to take on the full-time position, I'm excited to see how she continues to grow in her knowledge of the game while reinforcing the things she's already proven to be an expert in. Our front row players, in particular, are really going to benefit from her knowledge of blocking and offense - the two places where she was most dominant when she was still competing."
As a player for the Scots, Becker helped the program to two NCAA Tournament appearances and four USA South regular season division titles. Although she battled injuries throughout her career, Becker was a key member of those teams both on and off the court.
She was a three-time USA South All-Academic team member and was Covenant's representative on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team in 2017.
In her assistant role last year, Becker helped run practices, was a part of the recruiting process and produced opponent scouting reports while assisting with in-match technical strategy and feedback for players.
Becker graduated from Covenant with a degree in mathematics in 2019 and is set to finish her master's degree in teaching from Covenant later this spring.
"I look forward to giving back to the school and program that taught me so much by bringing my background of high-level competition and my love for the sport," Becker added. "I'm excited to take on this new role and to walk alongside the players and coaches of this program in our faith on and off the court. I also want to thank Coach Ehman and Dr. Tim Sceggel for giving me an opportunity to be a part of this amazing athletic department and for everyone welcoming me into it with open arms."
Originally from Springfield, Mo., Becker attended Kickapoo High School.
