FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant volleyball senior outside hitter Ginny Moore has been named the USA South Player of the Week for the period ending Sept. 24, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.
It is the fourth time in her career that Moore has earned the honor. It is also the first time this season that a Covenant volleyball player has garnered a weekly honor from the conference.
A senior from Fort Myers, Fla., Moore's play helped lead Covenant to a 3-0 start in USA South play with all three wins coming last week. She posted averages of 4.42 kills and 5.92 digs per set and had double-doubles in all three matches. Moore had 19 kills and 26 digs in a 3-1 win over Maryville last Wednesday. In a 3-1 win at LaGrange, Moore had 14 kills, 19 digs and three total blocks. She then capped the week with a season-high 20 kills to go with 26 digs and five aces in a 3-1 win over Piedmont.
Moore ranks second in the USA South in kills per set (3.16) and total kills (180). She also ranks third in the conference in digs with 280.
Covenant (8-6, 3-0 USA South) rides its five-match win streak into Thursday's non-conference match at nationally-ranked Emory. First serve in Atlanta is scheduled for 7 p.m.
