LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- For a second straight season, the Covenant volleyball team captured a USA South championship as the Lady Scots finished 19-13 overall. Covenant won the West Division regular season title, its second consecutive division crown, after going 12-3 in conference play under fourth-year head coach Joanna Ehman.

Covenant faced another challenging schedule, one that would take them away from Barnes PE Center for the first 19 matches of the year, which also featured three nationally-ranked opponents. The Lady Scots powered through the USA South slate to win another conference regular season championship, the third in the last five years.

Juniors Ginny Moore and Schuyler Moore led the way statistically for the Lady Scots. Both players earned first team All-USA South and All-West Division honors, while Ginny Moore was an AVCA All-South Region selection. Senior Morgan Opgenorth garnered second team All-West honors along with junior Jessica Seehorn. Hannah Harris was Covenant's representative on the USA South All-Sportsmanship team. As a team, Covenant picked up its second straight USA South Team Sportsmanship Award.

It was a long time coming, but the Lady Scots finally opened the home portion of their schedule on Oct. 8 against USA South foe Salem and nationally-ranked Emory in a tri-match at Barnes PE Center.

Covenant wasted little time in dominating Salem in three sets as Harris led the way with a match-high 13 kills in the 25-13, 25-16, 25-16 victory. In the day's second match, Covenant squared up with No. 6 Emory. The Lady Scots played tough with the powerful Eagles, but ultimately fell in three sets despite 11 kills from Ginny Moore. Covenant would finish the season with a 5-3 record at home.
