LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Covenant volleyball junior outside hitter Ginny Moore was selected to the American Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA) All-South Region honorable mention team, as the organization announced on Thursday.
Moore becomes the second straight Lady Scot to earn all-region from the AVCA after Chelsea VanDyk collected honors last season. Moore was one of three players from the USA South on an all-region team, joining Averett's Hannah Shields and Meredith's Caroline Corey.
A junior from Fort Myers, Fla., Moore led Covenant in several categories, including kills (340), kills per set (3.18) and total digs (418). She was named to the All-USA South first team and was a first team All-West Division selection. Her 340 kills currently ranked fourth in the USA South and had a season-high 23 kills in a USA South Tournament quarterfinal against LaGrange. Moore tallied 16 double-doubles on the year and produced 20 matches with double-digit kills. She was named USA South Player of the Week on Oct. 17 after averaging 3.85 kills and 4.46 digs per set during the award period.
During the year, Moore surpassed 1,000 career digs and kills becoming just the third player in the program since 2001 to achieve the feat.
Moore's play helped Covenant to a 19-13 overall record and a USA South West Division title after a 12-3 record in conference play.
