ROME, Ga. -- Jessica Seehorn had a career-high 12 kills and Schuyler Moore had 31 assists to lead the Covenant volleyball team to a 3-1 (22-25, 25-15, 25-17, 25-23) victory over Millsaps in the opener of the Berry Invitational on Friday evening at the Cage Center.
Covenant (1-0) wins its season opener for a fourth consecutive season. Millsaps drops to 0-1 on the year.
Seehorn topped her previous career-best with 12 kills and a .417 hitting percentage to go along with five service aces and three block solos. Moore chipped in five digs and five kills along with her 31 assists in the win. Ginny Moore led Covenant with 13 kills and eight digs, while Morgan Opgenorth had nine kills.
After dropping the first set, Covenant rebounded with a 25-15 victory in the third. The Lady Scots collected 10 kills in the second frame and were also aided by 12 Millsaps attack errors in the set to tie the match at 1-1.
Covenant pulled away for a 25-17 victory in the third set and then took a back-and-forth affair in the fourth to win the match. With the fourth set tied at 23 apiece, Covenant took a 24-23 lead after a Millsaps error and Seehorn capped her career night with a kill to secure the victory.
Kayleigh Aicklen led Millsaps with 10 kills and Gracie Bellnap had 14 assists.
Covenant will play twice on Saturday to conclude the Invitational. The Lady Scots face Washington & Lee at 10:30 a.m., before taking on host Berry at 1 p.m.
