Scots Weekly: Stats & Notes (Oct. 21-26)

Covenant teams wrapped up berths into the USA South tournaments with victories this week. Men's soccer went 2-0 with wins over non-conference foe Emory and USA South member Averett. Women's soccer dropped a match at Averett before blasting William Peace 5-0, while the volleyball team rebounded from a mid-week loss to defeat Meredith and Methodist over the weekend. Men's golf competed at the NCCAA National Championships as well.

Friesen got the week going with both of Covenant's scores in a 2-1 win over Emory and then Dale matched Friesen with a pair of goals in Friday's 3-1 win at Averett. It was the first collegiate two-goal game for Friesen and the second for Dale.

1980: Speaking of the 2-1 men's soccer win over Emory, the victory marked just the second time in school history that the Scots have defeated the Atlanta school. The other victory came over 33 years ago in October of 1980 (also a 2-1 score).

12-2: The record this year for the volleyball team when they have a hitting percentage at .190 or above as a team. 1: Number of career hat tricks for women's soccer junior Bethany Logan and two-goal matches for junior Ally Jennings. Logan and Jennings put on a display in Saturday's 5-0 rout of William Peace as Logan scored three times and Jennings twice. It was Logan's first collegiate hat trick as she now leads the team with nine goals. For Jennings, it marked her first two collegiate scores.

433:24: The consecutive opponent scoreless streak, in game minutes, for the women's soccer team that was snapped in Friday's 2-0 loss at Averett. Before Friday, Covenant had not allowed an opponent to score since October 2, a span of 23 days.
