ATLANTA, Ga. -- Freshman middle hitter Chelsea Van Dyk has been named Great South Athletic Conference Volleyball Player of the Week, as voted on by the conference's sports information directors, the league announced on Wednesday morning.
The Manhattan, Mont., native amassed 92 kills, a .389 hitting percentage, six block solos and 10 block assists in the Lady Scots' first seven matches of the season. Van Dyk is also averaging 3.68 kills per set to help propel Covenant to a 6-2 start after last night's 3-0 win at Agnes Scott. Additionally, Van Dyk ranks fourth in the NCCAA with her hitting percentage and seventh in kills per set.
During the week of September 3-8, Van Dyk had 57 kills as the Lady Scots won three of the four matches they played. In last night's win over Agnes Scott, Van Dyk continued to hit the ball well as she had 12 kills on 18 chances.
