LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant volleyball team recorded 37 kills, with 11 coming from Chelsea Van Dyk, as they rolled to a 3-0 win (25-15, 25-14, 25-15) over Tennessee Temple on Thursday night to conclude the regular season.
With the win, Covenant moves to 24-6 overall as they head into postseason play beginning next weekend. The Lady Scots will participate in the NCCAA Mid-East Region Tournament November 16-17 at Tennessee Temple.
Covenant got off to a strong start as they led 12-6 midway through the first set. Covenant still led 20-14 and would close the first game scoring five of the final six points, with kills from Van Dyk and Pretoria den Boer.
Temple (14-16) battled in the second set as they found themselves down just two at 12-10. Again, Covenant had the answer as they finished the set on a 13-4 run. The Lady Scots tallied seven kills during the stretch. Covenant then got out to a huge lead in the third set at 13-3 and cruised to the match win.
Temple was led by Kourtney Chorman's 12 kills, while Kiara Govan posted 17 assists in the loss.
