NASHVILLE, Tenn. -- For the second time this season, the Covenant volleyball team came up short on the road at Trevecca Nazarene. The host Trojans knocked off Covenant 3-0 (25-20, 25-19, 25-20) for the second time this season on Saturday afternoon.
Trevecca also defeated Covenant in a sweep to begin the season on August 31.
Chelsea Van Dyk recorded 14 kills to lead Covenant (16-6) offensively. Stephanie Kirkpatrick added 26 assists and three block assists. Libero Estes Carlson had 18 digs, with Paige Cheney, Kirkpatrick, and Pretoria den Boer each chipping in eight digs.
After falling behind early in the first set, Covenant rallied to take a brief 19-18 lead after a Trevecca error. But the Trojans responded with seven of the next eight points to take the set win. Trevecca (16-11) would not trail the rest of the match as they won the next two sets.
The Trojans were led by Jenna Robertson and Kristen Johnson who had 16 and 12 kills, respectively. Johnson added 14 assists, while Caroline Gay led Trevecca with 19 assists. Loren Bennett tallied 14 digs for the hosts.
The Lady Scots will be free from competition for the next week. They return to the court on Saturday, October 20 when they host their second tri-match of the year. Covenant takes on Huntingdon at 11 a.m. and Reinhardt at 3 p.m. at Barnes Physical Education Center.
