MACON, Ga. -- The Covenant women's tennis team swept Wesleyan, 9-0, on Friday evening on the campus of Wesleyan College in its conference opener.
The Scots dropped only five games all match claiming five sweeps in the contest.
Covenant picked up three wins in doubles play to get the day started.
Justine Blick and Laney Beckwith took an, 8-0, victory over Erika Hendrix and Hannah Motes at three doubles. Margo Koby and Mariah Westra defeated Riley Mullis and Adahy Pritchett, 8-0, at the two spot. Esther Eddy and Madelyn Savage played to an, 8-4, win over Erin Laffey and Yuanyuan Zhang at No. 1 doubles to take a 3-0 lead into singles play.
In singles competition, Kayla Brown claimed a, 6-0, 6-0, match over Motes at six singles. Savage clinched the match for Covenant with a, 6-0, 6-0, sweep over Mullis at No. 3 singles.
Nicole Restrepo was the third Scot to wrap up taking a, 6-1, 6-1, win over Zhang at the two slot. Blick then completed a, 6-0, 6-1, victory against Hendrix at the four. At five singles Anna Logan defeated Pritchett, 6-1, 6-0 and Gillian Bosko claimed her first victory No. 1 singles victory, 6-0, 6-0, over Laffey.
Covenant is now 5-5 overall and 1-0 in USA South competition while Wesleyan falls to 1-2 and 0-1 in conference play.
The Scots return home on Friday, March 13, as they host Oglethorpe at 3:30 p.m.
