CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant women's tennis team swept Maryville, 9-0, on Saturday evening from the Strang-Voges Tennis Complex on the campus of the McCallie School.
The match had to be moved indoors due to the rain earlier in the morning and cold conditions throughout the evening.
The Scots improved to 2-4 on the year while Maryville falls to 2-1.
Covenant came away with a 3-0 advantage after doubles competition had been completed and continued that success into singles play.
Margo Koby and Mariah Westra came away with an 8-0 victory over Caroline Malone and Savannah Mantooth at three doubles. At the two spot, Justine Blick and Laney Beckwith claimed an 8-0 match over Saidee McDaniel and Eliza Cheshire. At the one, Esther Eddy and Madelyn Savage worked for their victory taking a tiebreak, 8-7 (4), win over Kaya Zimmerman and Anastasia Dunn.
The hosts continued to roll in singles play not dropping a set the entire contest.
Eddy took down Zimmerman 6-0, 6-3 at one singles and Gillian Bosko defeated Dunn 6-1, 6-0 at the two.
In the three through six singles matches Covenant did not drop a game claiming all four victories 6-0, 6-0.
Savage brought down Cheshire at the three spot while Blauw brought home the win over McDaniel at the four. Blick defeated Mantooth at the five slot and Koby wrapped it up with a win over Malone at the six singles position.
Covenant takes on Transylvania on Saturday at 12 p.m. on Lookout Mountain before making the trip back down to McCallie to take on Johnson at 5 p.m.
