LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team fell to Birmingham Southern, 7-2, on Saturday afternoon from the Covenant Tennis Complex.
Covenant falls to 1-4 on the year while Birmingham Southern improves to 2-4 on the season.
The Panthers took two out of three doubles for a 2-1 edge.
Esther Eddy and Madelyn Savage won the one doubles match 8-6 over Alyssa Yager and Katie Collar. Mariah Westra and Nicole Restrepo fell to Ansley Turley Emily Enoch 8-2 and Laney Beckwith and Gillian Bosko was defeated by Ashton Henderson and Margaret Zaner 8-0 at No. 3 doubles.
In singles play it was Restrepo picking up the hard-fought win over Collar 6-3, 4-6, 6-3, at three singles.
Savage played Enoch to two close sets, 7-5, 7-5, at the four spot and Bosko fell to Turley 6-3, 6-3 at the No. 2 singles. Blauw dropped six singles, 6-2, 6-4, to Zaner at the six slot, while Eddy lost to Yager 6-1, 6-1 at the one.
The Scots play host to Maryville next Friday, Feb. 28, against Maryville in a non-conference contest. First serve is scheduled for 4 p.m.
