CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant women's tennis team concluded their season with a 7-2 loss to Maryville on Friday afternoon from the Strang-Voges Tennis Complex on the campus of the McCallie School.
Covenant fell behind 2-1 after doubles play had ended.
Laney Beckwith and Justine Blick fell to Savannah Bain and Kayla Basilio 8-2 at three doubles. Esther Eddy and Margo Koby had a tough match at the one eventually dropping an 8-5 match to Anastasia Dunn and Kayla Zimmerman. Mariah Westra and Masha Lanska pulled out an 8-5 victory at the two spot over McKennah Francis and Carter Dickinson.
Eddy knotted things up at two with a 6-0, 6-0 sweep over Francis at one singles. Maryville (8-8, 5-3 USA South) then went on the win the next five matches to take the victory.
Koby fell to Zimmerman 6-3, 6-2 at the two. Lanska wrapped up her career as a Scot with a 6-2, 6-4 loss to Dickinson at three.
Sara Blauw dropped set one 6-2 before eventually dropping the second set 6-4 at the six slot.
Blick won the first set of her match, 6-4, over Dunn before dropping the second set 6-3 to force a third set. Blick then dropped the third set 1-0 (10-7). Beckwith saw a hard match throughout. Beckwith fell in the first set 7-6 (5), but took set two quickly 6-1. In the third set, it was a hard-fought tiebreak that was taken by Bain 1-0 (10-8).
Covenant ends the year with a 6-13 record overall and 3-5 in USA South play.
