Brevard Downs Women's Tennis, 6-3

BREVARD, N.C. -- Justine Blick and Laney Beckwith both took two wins, but the Covenant women's tennis team fell to Brevard, 6-3, at the McCoy Tennis Complex on Saturday afternoon in USA South action.

Covenant drops to 5-10 overall and 2-2 in the USA South. Brevard improves to 11-4 on the year and 5-0 in league play.

Blick and Beckwith combined for all of Covenant's three points on the day. At No. 3 doubles, Blick and Beckwith teamed up to defeat Margaret Correll and Eleanor Flannery, 8-5. That win was Covenant's lone doubles point as the host Tornados took a 2-1 match lead entering singles play.

Blick then took a victory at the No. 4 spot in singles with her 6-3, 6-2 win over Jen Cox. Beckwith then took down Correll by scores of 6-3, 6-2 at the No. 5 flight.

Brevard clinched the match with Darden King's 6-2, 6-0 victory over Margo Koby at the No. 3 position. At the No. 6 spot, Covenant's Anna Logan was narrowly defeated in the first set by Flannery, 7-6(3) before falling 6-2 in the second set. Brevard's Samantha Sepe and Kelsey Kushner took wins over Esther Eddy and Masha Lanska at the top two flights, respectively.

Covenant hosts Agnes Scott on Tuesday for a USA South match. First serve is set for 4 p.m.
