LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team fell to the No. 26 ranked Sewanee Tigers, 9-0, on Friday afternoon at the Covenant Tennis Complex.
The Tigers came into the contest ranked No. 26 in the nation and eighth in the South Atlantic region.
Sewanee made quick work of the Scots in doubles play taking a 3-0 sweep to begin the match.
At two doubles Nelson Tyler Jones and Alexandra Smyth took the 8-0 sweep. Esther Eddy and Margo Koby dropped an 8-2 match to Jordan Besh and Lilly Stephens and Kaylin Thompson and Sarah Gray completed the doubles sweep with an 8-2 decision over Laney Beckwith and Justine Blick.
The Tigers continued their play in the singles portion of the match.
Smith clinched the match for Sewanee over Masha Lanska 6-4, 6-0 at two singles to take a 5-0 advantage in the match. The only other Scot to take multiple games in a set came in the six singles spot as Anna Logan fell to Thompson 6-1, 6-2 to wrap up the match.
The Scots travel to Brevard for a USA South contest on Saturday beginning at 2 p.m.
