LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- The Covenant women's tennis team defeated Wesleyan, 8-1, on Saturday afternoon at the Covenant tennis complex.
The Scots jumped out to a quick 3-0 lead after doubles play.
Grace Terryberry and Anna Logan got the scoring started taking down Corrin Lewis and Adahy Christina Pritchett 8-0 at three doubles. Ester Eddy and Margo Koby took care of Erin Laffey and YuanYuan Zhang 8-5 at the one spot just moments before Mariah Westra and Masha Lanska defeated Riley Mullis and Kearsetyn Bargeron 8-6 at the two flight.
Covenant (5-8, 2-1 USA South) clinched the match quickly in singles play winning the first three matches
Laney Beckwith made quick work of Lewis 6-0, 6-0 at five singles and Blick clinched the match for the Scots with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Mullis to extend the match lead to five.
Sara Blauw added on at six singles 6-0, 6-1 over Bianca Walker to take a 6-0 match lead. Koby played Bargeron in a tough 6-2, 6-2 loss at two singles in the only win of the match for Wesleyan (1-6, 1-5 USA South). Eddy wrapped up her match with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Laffey at the one flight and Lanska took care of the three spot 6-1, 6-3 over Zhang.
UP NEXT
Covenant takes a step out of conference play to battle the regionally ranked Sewanee Tigers on Lookout Mountain on April 5th. The match is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.
