Women's Tennis Collects Second Straight Win

BEREA, Ky. -- The Covenant women's tennis team picked up its second straight win in as many days as the Scots downed Berea, 9-0, on Saturday at the Wilson Evans Tennis Complex.

Covenant (2-5) was scheduled to play Transylvania later on Saturday, but the match was postponed due to court conditions. The match against Berea (0-1) does not count towards league standings.

The Scots breezed through doubles play to take a 3-0 match lead.

Laney Beckwith and Justine Blick notched the first point of the match with an 8-0 win at the No. 3 flight over Eulalia Garcia and Stephanie Itumba. Esther Eddy and Margo Koby were also 8-0 winners at the No. 1 spot over Jaden Johnson and Agnes Dotse, while Mariah Westra and Masha Lanska completed the doubles sweep with their 8-2 win against Erin Goodpaster and Emma Lee Nelson at the second position.

It was more of the same in singles competition. Koby made it 4-0 with her 6-1, 6-1 win over Johnson at the No. 2 spot before Eddy clinched the match with a straight set win over Goodpaster at the top flight.

Anna Logan and Grace Terryberry also recorded 6-0, 6-0 wins in their matches. Logan defeated Garcia at No. 5, while Terryberry earned the win over Itumba at the No. 6 position. Blick collected a 6-1, 6-2 win over Dotse at No. 3 and Sara Blauw completed the win with her 6-2, 6-0 victory against Nelson at No. 4.

UP NEXT

Covenant is scheduled to be off from competition until Friday, March 15 when the Scots host Warren Wilson on Lookout Mountain. Match time is set for 4 p.m.
