LOOKOUT MOUNTAIN -- Although not quite as dominant as they had been over the previous two seasons, the 2018 edition of the Covenant women's tennis team still put together a successful year. Under sixth-year head coach John Hirte, the Scots finished with a 9-9 overall record and a 4-2 mark in the USA South.

Covenant qualified for the USA South Tournament for a sixth straight season. Since joining the conference, the Scots own a 41-8 record in regular season conference matches. Covenant won 19 straight regular season USA South contests before that streak was snapped in late March of 2018.

Three players -- Aly Hall, Annie DeLuca, and Esther Eddy -- earned All-USA South honors, with Hall garnering both All-Conference and All-West Division first team accolades. DeLuca earned her fourth straight All-USA South selection with a first team All-West Division honor, while Eddy was a second team All-Division honoree. The trio combined for 37 singles wins on the year as Hall led the team with a 14-2 record at the No. 1 spot.

DeLuca and Eddy took over as the No. 1 doubles team and tallied a 12-5 record together. Hall and Jennie Spielman comprised the No. 2 doubles team and would generate a 10-5 mark.

The season got off to an up and down start as Covenant was 3-2 before making a spring break trip to Florida. In Orlando for three matches, Covenant defeated Emerson 8-1 before returning to USA South play. The Scots would win four of their next six matches before heading into the USA South Tournament with the No. 3 seed from the West.

The .500 record makes it five consecutive seasons that Covenant has finished at .500 or better overall.

DeLuca ended her collegiate career with 42 career singles wins (second-most in program history) and 46 doubles victories (third-most). Hall wrapped up her three-year career at Covenant with 36 singles wins and the best career winning percentage in program history at .783. Fellow senior Spielman finished fourth all-time in career doubles wins with 45 and a second-best doubles winning percentage mark of .682.
