CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. -- The Covenant women's tennis team got back on the winning track with a 7-2 victory over Belhaven on Friday afternoon inside the Strang-Voges Tennis Center at The McCallie School in Chattanooga.
The match was moved to McCallie due to rain in the area on Friday. Covenant's home match against Hanover on Saturday will also be played at McCallie.
Covenant (2-1) took a 2-1 match lead after doubles as flights two and three took victories. Aly Hall and Jennie Spielman, playing at No. 2, defeated Belhaven's Rutchelyn Elizar and Macey Lea 8-3, while the No. 3 duo of Morgan McCain and Masha Lanska notched an 8-1 decision over Cassidy Ainsworth and Katelyn Head.
The Lady Scots then took care of business in singles play, winning at all top five spots, to earn the win. Hall went three sets with Jandayia Lubin at the top spot before pulling out a 6-3, 5-7 1-0 (10-6) victory. Annie DeLuca was a 6-3, 6-0 winner over Lubin at the second flight and Esther Eddy took down Alexandra Furdge 6-0, 6-3 at the third position.
Spielman collected a 6-1, 6-0 victory over Lea at No. 4, while McCain bested Ainsworth 6-3, 6-0 at No. 5.
Covenant will host Hanover at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday at McCallie School.
