FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. -- Covenant women's tennis junior Aly Hall has been named the USA South Player of the Week, for the period ending March 19, announced the conference on Monday afternoon.
It is the second career player of the week honor from the USA South for Hall. She also becomes the first Covenant women's tennis player to garner a weekly accolade this season.
The junior from Orlando, Fla., posted a 2-0 record at both No. 1 doubles and No. 1 singles on the week to help Covenant to a 2-0 record. In singles play, Hall surrendered just one point in her two matches. She defeated LaGrange's Jenna Eppes 6-0, 6-1 and then knocked off Emory & Henry's Lauren Riner 6-0, 6-0.
Hall teamed up with Esther Eddy for a pair of doubles wins at the top spot. The duo took down LaGrange's Eppes and Elizabeth Knott 8-2 before coming away with an 8-0 win over Riner and Savanna Summers of Emory & Henry.
For the season, Hall is 5-2 in singles play, all coming at the No. 1 spot, and has won three straight overall. Hall and Eddy have combined for a 4-5 record in doubles play.
Covenant (5-5) has won three straight matches going into Friday's home match against Agnes Scott to open USA South play. Match time is set for 4 p.m. on Lookout Mountain.
